Toronto Maple Leafs Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is the Toronto Maple Leafs, a professional ice hockey team of the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The team was founded in 1917 as the Toronto Blueshirts and became the Toronto Arenas in 1918, Toronto St. Patricks in 1919 and finally, Toronto Maple Leafs in 1917 up to the present. Their home arena is the Air Canada Centre since 1999. The leafs are popular for their long and bitter rivalry with the Montreal Canadiens, the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators.
